Doubting Thomas

"There are some prayers that are followed by a Divine silence because we are not yet ripe for all we have asked; there are others which are so followed because we are ripe for more. We do not always know the full strength of our own capacity; we have to be prepared for receiving greater blessings than we have ever dreamed of." - George Matheson

Sometimes we find ourselves in a place of unbelief. It is usually when God is silent and we are forced to wait until He speaks. George Matheson spoke a great truth. Our prayers are sometimes followed by that quietness which is so loud it can hurt. We know when God calls us to wait because He continues to withhold the answer to our prayers. And like the quote above states, it is because 'we are not yet ripe for all we have asked.'

If I know that my God knows best and waits so that He may be gracious to me....... then why do I doubt that He will answer? Why do I hesitate in my confidence in Him when there is a silence? The Lord knows that I need this silence because it confirms every time what is in my heart. Sometimes I waver and other times I am steadfast. But I never really know until I am forced to have to trust Him.

My faith is surely being tested this week. My Father is asking me to trust His very words of promise which are strewn throughout His love letter to us all. What is the point of having faith if we can see what we hope for? It is when there is no answer in sight, my faith should increase. So this is my humble prayer today and tomorrow and the next day..... LORD increase my faith in your word. Help me to believe that when You have said it, You will perform it. Remove any doubt that tries to squirm its way into my mind. Give me great faith to step out onto the water and walk to You so that I may receive greater blessings than I have ever dreamed possible!

'O people of God, be great believers! Little faith will bring your souls to Heaven, but great faith will bring Heaven to your souls.'
Charles Spurgeon.

Oh Naomi, this just touched my heart today. So, hard to be silent and wait for our God to answer. Just today my friend was talking about God and how He is ripening us for what He has. I am learning that He needs to ripen me even more before He moves again. He knows what we need to move forward. And like a faithful Father He loves us so much and won't allow us to move until He knows we are ready. Praying that we remain faithful when He is ripening us and when He is silent.

Yes! Thank you. I so struggle with waiting for God to give us an answer about a certain issue. I know that I need to wait for Him. Your words encouraged me today.

Dear Naomi, I am joining you in this Prayer, Oh God Almighty increase our faith to see the Goodnes of the Lord in the land of the Living. We can doubt every thing in this world but never Gods faithullness and goodness, Like you I choose to be anchored to Jesus Christ and I know all he does is for his Glory and my good. I pray we allow him his perfect work without the resistant and struggling but trust him enough to yield willingly and then we shall come forth as Gold.Thankyou for the encouraging post.

Oh isn't it in the hard, hard waiting that we learn so much as we lean into our Lord! Days of struggle seem so dark, yet our Light is always with us. Beautiful post.
